A boate Barcode foi construída em um galpão ferroviário a tijolo Vitoriano em Vauxhall, sul de Londres. A boate inteira é iluminada usando apenas luzes LED, e o sistema de som também é energeticamente eficiente. O arquiteto, Woods Bagot alega que o sistema consome "menos electricidade do que a energia utilizada para ferver uma chaleira". Ainda assim, este é um exemplo interessante de todo - iluminação LED num edifício, que eu tenho certeza veremos mais nos próximos anos. Os LEDs liberam muito pouco calor, muito menos ar-condicionado é necessário para resfriar o prédio no verão, além de permitir todas as cores do espectro luminoso sem usar nenhum filtro e de ter uma vida útil invejável, um LED dura em média 10 anos sem necessidade de substituição. The Barcode nightclub was built in a disused brick Victorian railway arch in Vauxhall, south London. The entire nightclub is illuminated using only LED lights, and the sound system is also energy efficient. The architect, Woods Bagot claims that the system consumes “less electricity than the power used to boil a kettle”. If they could just give a watts per hour figure I’d be happier! Still, this is a interesting example of all-LED lighting in a building, which I’m sure we’ll see more in the coming years.
